Introduction to CNS Technologies

This course provides an introduction to all the
Communications, Navigation and Surveillance technologies and their role in air
traffic management. It describes the ICAO and SESAR context and how
technological developments fit into current strategies. It gives an overview of
all the major developments in communication eg. Datalink/IP; surveillance eg.
ADS-B, Mode S and Multilateration; navigation eg. RNAV and GNSS. No prior
knowledge of any of the technologies is assumed and it is an ideal ‘primer’ for
people new to the industry or to the technologies concerned.

Understanding ATC
Normal course duration: 2 days
A course designed for people whose work is
specifically associated with or indirectly related to air traffic control. Day
one is operationally orientated, explaining how the present ATC system is
organised, the rules and regulations that govern it and impending changes. Day
2 examines supporting technologies and the advances that are set to re-shape
ATC systems world-wide.
