The maritime industry is seeing the rapid emergence of a large number of new technological developments with the ability to revolutionise efficiency and safety in Europe’s busy waters.Implementing these technologies successfully requires the involvement of, and engagement with, maritime administrations, Aid to Navigation (AtoN) service providers, port authorities, vessel operators and manufacturers. Therefore, constructing a viable business case for the necessary investments requires a complex understanding of public sector and societal benefits as well as knowledge of what the cost/benefit to each participant is likely to be.
Helios has been active in the maritime domain for a number of years supporting the introduction of technologies and concepts such as AIS as an AtoN, enhanced Loran (eLoran) and eNavigation. For relevant case studies visit our project profiles pages.
