This course provides
participants with an overview of GNSS, the Global Navigation Satellite System,
its principles and benefits for civil aviation. The course starts from the
basics of how GNSS receivers work to develop a position solution and then
advances to look at the current performance and limitations of satellite
systems as well as reviewing GNSS vulnerabilities and complementary techniques.

RNAV in Europe
Normal course duration: 1 day
This course covers all of the major developments in
European RNAV development. This includes the status of P-RNAV and RNAV approach
implementations, and the planned developments in the context of the European
navigation strategy. The course describes the status of new systems/concepts
that are being developed, such as the point-merge concept and future advanced
tool support. The course explains how the new ICAO PBN concept will be
reflected in European work, and it describes the status of European regulatory
change that will affect RNAV in Europe.

Performance Based Navigation (PBN)
Normal course duration: 2 days
This course introduces the concepts of Performance
Based Navigation. It explores the processes involved in implementing PBN and
explains, in detail, the content and use of the navigation specifications. The
different PBN approaches and their related criteria are considered together
with the need for aeronautical data integrity. Worked examples are used to aid
comprehension.
